Cyclists 4 Community to Host Haute Route Rockies Event June 22nd at Boulder Beer

Who:C4C, the Boulder Cycling Community and the Haute Route Participants

What: A fun party (Haute Route kick off) and fundraising event for C4C, focusing on advocating safer roads for cyclists in Boulder County. All proceeds go to C4C

The Haute Route is the first global series of multi-day cycling events for amateurs, that go through Colorado’s Rockies, the French Alps, Pyrenees or Italian Dolomites, for the highest, toughest and most prestigious amateur cycling riding event in the world.

The Mavic Haute Route Rockies 2017 will feature an unforgettable combination of jaw-dropping scenery and breathtaking climbs.. The first ever week of Haute Route riding in North America features a total of 815 kilometres (507 miles) of riding in the spectacular setting of the Rocky Mountains and 15,000 metres of climbing (49,260ft). The event kicks off on June 24, 2017 from Boulder, Colorado and finishes on June 30 at Colorado Springs.

Chandler Smith, the Mavic Haute Route Rockies Course Director, said: “The Rockies are simply stunning and we have chosen some classic climbs that we feel sure will test and enthrall our competitors…Highlights during the week will undoubtedly include the highest climb – Independence Pass – while Magnolia Drive, which is the steepest with some ramps at 16%, will also surprise the riders”, he added. “On top of this, any section of dirt road will be memorable, especially the jaw-dropping beauty of Trough Road and Sopris Creek Road.”

C4C President Rob Andrew adds, “We’re honored to have the Haute Route launch its US presence here in Boulder and grateful to the organizers for deciding to help support our mission of safer cycling and giving back to the community.”

Featured Speaker Chris Carmichael, with introduction by Olympian, Mara Abbott. Chris Carmichael is the founder and CEO of Carmichael Training Systems, Inc. (CTS). Named the US Olympic Committee’s Coach of the Year in 1999, Chris formed CTS in 2000 to make world-class coaching accessible to athletes of all ability levels. Innovation has been a driving force throughout Chris’s career as an athlete, coach, and entrepreneur; he’s played a leading role in advancing the use of power meters, aerodynamic testing, altitude training, online coaching tools, and specific training methods for time-crunched athletes.

When: Thursday, June 22 from 5-9 pm

Where: Boulder Beer- 2880 Wilderness Place, Boulder

Cost: $25 per person (Kids $10), includes 2 beers and light apps.  Boulder Beer will close off the side room for the event, and open the doors to the patio/close off 1/2 patio
